Digital Zen ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension designed to help users improve their focus and productivity by blocking distracting websites during focus sessions. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our extension.

Digital Zen stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

• Focus Session Settings: Your configured focus periods, blocked websites list, and session preferences
• Authentication Tokens: OAuth tokens from Google authentication (stored securely in Chrome's storage)
• User Profile Information: Basic profile information (email and name) obtained through Google OAuth for personalization
• Extension Preferences: Your customized settings and configurations

Important: All this data is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this information, and it is never transmitted to our servers (we don't have any servers).

2.2 Google OAuth Authentication

Digital Zen uses Google OAuth 2.0 for user authentication. When you sign in with Google, we request access to:

• Email address: To identify your account
• Basic profile information: Your name and profile picture for personalization

This information is obtained directly from Google and stored locally on your device. We use Google's official OAuth 2.0 implementation, which means Google handles the authentication process securely.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information collected is used solely for the following purposes:

• Authentication: To verify your identity and maintain your session
• Personalization: To display your name and profile in the extension interface
• Functionality: To save and restore your focus session settings, blocked websites, and preferences
• Session Management: To manage focus sessions and apply website blocking rules

4. Permissions Explained

Digital Zen requests the following Chrome permissions to function properly:

4.1 Storage Permissions

• storage - To save your settings, blocked websites list, and preferences locally
• unlimitedStorage - To ensure we can store all your blocked websites without limitations

4.2 Network and Content Permissions

• declarativeNetRequest - To block access to distracting websites during focus sessions
• host_permissions: <all_urls> - To apply blocking rules to any website you choose to block
• activeTab - To interact with the current tab when needed

4.3 Authentication Permissions

• identity - To enable Google OAuth authentication

4.4 Other Permissions

• alarms - To manage focus session timers and notifications

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share your data with any third parties. Digital Zen operates entirely on your local device. The only external service we interact with is Google OAuth for authentication purposes, and this interaction is handled directly by Google's secure authentication system.

We do not:

• Sell your personal information
• Share your data with advertisers
• Use analytics or tracking services
• Send your data to external servers
• Monitor your browsing activity

6. Data Security

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs, which are designed with security in mind. Your authentication tokens are stored securely using Chrome's identity API. Since we don't transmit data to external servers, the risk of data breaches is minimized.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you:

• Uninstall the extension (which removes all stored data)
• Clear the extension's data through Chrome's settings
• Manually delete your blocked websites and settings within the extension

When you uninstall Digital Zen, all locally stored data is automatically removed from your device.

8. Children's Privacy

Digital Zen is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to remove such information.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your information:

12. International Users

Digital Zen is available worldwide. Since all data is stored locally on your device, there are no international data transfers. Your data never leaves your device except for the authentication process with Google OAuth, which is governed by Google's privacy practices.

13. Do Not Track

Digital Zen respects Do Not Track (DNT) signals. However, since we don't track any user activity or collect any analytics data, DNT settings don't affect our extension's behavior—we already don't track anything.
